Thinning the Canopy
Canopy thinning removes select branches from within the crown to open up sightlines without altering the tree’s overall shape. For densely packed trees, this technique also improves air circulation and reduces the risk of fungal disease. The result is a lighter, healthier canopy that lets you see through the tree rather than around it. Trees Down Under’s AQF Level 3-5 certified arborists assess each tree individually before any cuts are made, ensuring the work suits the species and the specific view you want to reveal.
Crown Lifting
Crown lifting removes the lower limbs of a tree to raise the base of the foliage, creating clearance beneath the canopy. This is particularly useful where a tree blocks a view from a ground-floor window, deck, or driveway without needing to reduce the tree’s height or overall size.
Thinning and lifting are precise techniques – done right, the tree looks natural and the view opens up. Done wrong, you’re looking at long-term structural damage.
