Deadwooding Explained
Deadwooding is the targeted removal of dead limbs and dead branches from a living tree. Only the dead wood comes out. The healthy canopy stays, so the tree keeps its shape, its shade and its strength.
It is a different job from tree removal or heavy reshaping. The aim is to take out what is already lifeless and likely to fall, and leave the rest of the tree alone.
Why Dead Branches Are a Risk in North Kellyville
Established gums and large lots across North Kellyville mean plenty of mature canopy hanging over homes. Dead branches become brittle and can drop without warning, particularly after wind or heavy rain.
- Roofs, gutters and solar panels
- Parked cars and driveways
- Fences, sheds and pool areas
- Play areas, patios and walkways
A dead limb doesn’t give you a warning. It comes down when the wind picks up, and it lands wherever it lands.

Protecting the Tree and the Property
Removing dead wood also helps the tree. Decaying branches can carry fungus and pests into healthy growth, so clearing them early through tree pruning supports long-term tree health.
For owners, it reduces storm damage and cuts liability concerns if a falling branch injures someone or damages a neighbour’s property. It can also support insurance conversations around known tree hazards.
