Firstly, I was very impressed by the promptness with which Joseph provided his quote. This quote was competitive though it still presented a financial challenge! That said, once I witnessed TDU’s team of 5 hard working people undertaking the difficult task of removing the tree in my front yard which was overhanging power lines, I quickly gained more respect for the cost. The job was performed efficiently and professionally and I’m very happy to recommend TDU to other householders contemplating the removal of a large tree(s) no matter how complex.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ After a six-month journey full of challenges, our large tree was finally removed, and I couldn't be happier with the service provided by Tree Down Under. From my very first conversation with Joseph for a quote, right through to planning and completing the job, he was professional, patient, and genuinely helpful. Our original plan was to use a crane to remove the tree, which would have protected our garden and lawn while making the job much easier. Unfortunately, because the crane needed access to council land, approval was required. Joseph and his team spent nearly three months communicating with the council, but permission was ultimately refused. Rather than giving up, Joseph worked with us to develop a new plan. The tree had to be climbed and dismantled piece by piece, which was a much more difficult and time-consuming process. Throughout the entire project, Joseph always looked for ways to save us money. He suggested that his team chip and remove all the smaller branches, while cutting the large trunk into manageable firewood-sized sections that we could sell ourselves. It turned out to be a great idea—we ended up selling the timber for nearly $2,000, which significantly reduced our overall cost. The removal itself took two and a half days because the tree was enormous. The four crew members worked together seamlessly, efficiently, and safely. They never wasted time, communicated well with each other, and completed the job without causing any damage to our property. One detail that really stood out happened before the tree removal even began. While waiting for the council's decision, several large dead branches hanging close to our house became a concern, especially on windy days. Without charging us anything, Joseph arranged for his team to come out and remove those dangerous branches to eliminate the risk of damage to our roof. That level of care and responsibility is something you don't see very often. Finally, the pricing was exceptional. Their quote was more than 50% lower than several other tree removal companies we contacted, yet the quality of workmanship and professionalism exceeded our expectations. If you're looking for an honest, skilled, reliable, and reasonably priced tree removal company, I wholeheartedly recommend Tree Down Under. Thank you, Joseph and the entire team, for making such a difficult project stress-free from start to finish!

What Should Councils Look for in a Vegetation Management Contractor?

Look for qualified arborists (AQF Level 3 as a minimum, Level 5 for reports), traffic control to AS 1742.3, current public liability and workers compensation cover, documented SWMS, and the plant to finish the job without extra subcontractors. Tree contractors who own their cranes and equipment can mobilise faster and hold pricing steady across a contract.

Do you provide street tree pruning under council contracts?

Yes. We deliver street tree pruning and maintenance as scheduled programs, reactive works or panel call outs, with traffic control and reporting included.

Can you respond to storm damage on council land after hours?

Yes. Our emergency crews are available 24/7 to make trees safe, clear roads and paths, and document the damage for council records.

Can you supply arborist reports with council works?

Yes. Our AQF Level 5 arborists prepare reports, risk assessments and audit data to support council decisions and approvals.

Which parts of Sydney do you service?

We are based in Dural and work with councils across Greater Sydney, including the Hills District, North Shore, Inner West, Northern Beaches, Western Sydney and the Blue Mountains.
