A decaying stump seldom stays a harmless garden feature. Soft, wet timber can draw in fungi and termites, and a crumbling top becomes a trip hazard for anyone crossing the lawn. It also blocks re-turfing, garden beds and any new landscaping plans.
Rot does not make a stump a lost cause. Rotten stumps can still be ground out, and the softer timber often means the grind goes faster. Grinding or full stump removal clears the problem at the source, rather than waiting for the rot to spread further.
The catch with rotten timber is control. Voids and sections that disintegrate can make the grind uneven if the operator rushes, leaving a patchy finish below the surface.
Soft timber looks easy, but hollow pockets hide in it. A steady hand and a patient grind give a clean, level result every time.

Before any grinding starts, the crew checks the stump’s condition and the surrounding site, then plans a safe process around it. The same approach applies to tree stump removal anywhere in Lawson and the Blue Mountains.
