Height changes the whole plan
A 20m tree is about the height of a six-storey building, so it can’t be treated like a standard backyard job. A tree this tall demands a planned, sectional removal, often with crane assistance, rather than a single felling cut.
At this height, the fall zone is wider than most Castle Hill blocks. Even a small error can put a roof, fence or neighbouring property in the path of a falling limb or trunk.
Homes, fences and power lines leave little margin
Large trees in the Hills District often grow close to houses, pools and overhead lines. Certified arborists work out where each section will land and how it will be lowered, long before any cutting starts.
A tree this size carries serious weight in every section. Plan the lift first, cut second, and nothing swings where it shouldn’t.

Why DIY or an uninsured operator is a poor risk
If something goes wrong, the damage and injury costs can far exceed the price of the job. Using a licensed, insured tree removal service protects your property and anyone on it. Many trees in the Hills also need approval before removal, so check The Hills Shire Council’s tree and vegetation rules first.
