What Hornsby Shire Council Requires
Not always. Cherrybrook sits under Hornsby Shire Council, which requires approval to remove a tree that is 10 metres or taller, has a trunk diameter over 300 millimetres, or forms part of a native vegetation community. Trees near heritage sites or waterways may also need consent.
There is an exemption for trees that are dead, dying or dangerous, but it pays to confirm it applies before any tree removal goes ahead. Check the current rules on the Hornsby Shire Council website, and see the NSW Government’s tree clearing guidance for state-level rules.
We work with every local council in Sydney, so permits don’t have to be a headache. Getting the paperwork right first keeps the whole job safe and compliant.

How the Job Runs From Start to Finish
We keep the process in a clear order, so a busy homeowner knows what happens next:
- A free tree inspection and a same-day quote, with scheduling subject to availability.
- Permit checks and, where needed, an arborist report and council application.
- Removal by climbing or crane, using our own crane fleet where the site calls for it.
- Full site clean-up, including green waste.
Because we work out whether a permit is needed and prepare the application if it is, the paperwork and the removal sit with one local crew, not two separate contractors.
