Limbs that reach over a roof drop leaves, twigs, bark and deadwood straight onto the tiles or sheeting, and most of it ends up in the gutter. Clearing the gutter helps for a few weeks, but the tree keeps shedding. Pruning to reduce leaf litter in gutters fixes the problem at the source, because less material lands on the roof in the first place. Repeated blockages also raise the risk of overflow, water damage and debris that holds moisture against the roofline.
Done properly, this is more than a trim for clearance. A qualified arborist removes the branches that matter, such as overhanging limbs, deadwood and crowded growth, while protecting the tree’s structure and canopy health. Poor cuts can leave a tree weaker and more likely to drop even more debris.
Before any tree is cut back or removed, council permit requirements need to be checked. Trees Down Under’s AQF Level 3-5 certified arborists can inspect your trees and talk you through the options. To arrange a free tree inspection, request one online or call 0475 463 597 any time.
